These lenders represent only a handful of the many superb local area lenders.  You are advised to select your lender very carefully, as your home financing is probably one of the most important financial decisions you will make.  While you may use any lender licensed to do business in Illinois, I recommend you consider a local lender.  You will find local lender rates to be competitive and their face to face service and knowledge of local property tax and title company policies reassuring.  When you compare lenders, ask about all of their costs, so that you are truely comparing apples to apples.

Buyers:  Pre-approval is the first step in your home search.  It provides independent verification of both your price range (considering down payment, loan/closing costs, escrow costs, taxes, etc.) and your credit standing.   It saves you time, reduces the possibility of an unpleasant last minute surprise and makes your contract offer stronger and more likely to be favorably considered by the Seller.
